1. Excellent Quality

   A well made replacement pedal. The build quality is good and works as good as if not better. If you are competent with electrics it can be easily adapted to suit the 3 wire pedal as Mick A suggests by using the black wire as a common.

2. "Bernina Universal Foot Control For All Machines" -- useful replacement control.

   I got this control to replace one on an Elena sewing machine, for a fiend. Two sewing machine shops had previously been paid £30 each to look at the existing (old) one and both failed to effect a repair or suggest a replacement.
   
   For less than £20 this foot contol could have been fitted. It was an easy job. Remove 3 screws from it's underside. Take the two wire lead off the old control. Fit the two small metal, push-on clips, supplied, to those wires securely, so the lead can be connected to the two tags in this new one. Slide the heat resistant sleeving over the wires before connecting. Fit the wire clamp bits supplied to secure the twin cable to this new control. Make sure the wires are out of the way of things. Put the base back on. Job done. Anyone used to doing this sort of work can do it easily in 15 minutes.
   
   For the technical: The control provides a variable resistance in the lead supplying the machine motor. It uses two 'side by side' carbon piles. The two wires go one each to the side by side ends at one end. Pressure is exerted on the two other ends of the piles by a metal plate that bridges across them to also act as an off/on switch when the control is pressed. Measurements showed the resistance change operated smoothly and was a much better control, in this respect, than the old one.
   
   I can't talk about life as the job has only just been done, but the electrical working looks well engineered. The foot pad swivels on round plastic pegs/rods and it remains to be seen what their life will be.

3. Well made but does not come with ANY INSTRUCTIONS

   Well packed the foot pedal came very quickly. The item is well made but on opening up the packetI was disapointed to find NO WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS what so ever, however there was a fitting kit (sleeving etc). The first attempt to wire the foot pedal for my NON ELECTRONIC BERNINA (Model 801) resulted in the 13 amp fuse blowing. I rang the Bernina Sewing shop who did ring me back and advised I could not use this pedal on the Bernina 801, as the existing pedal had 3 wires going to it. However with trial and error I managed to get the foot pedal working use the Black common cable and one of the other wires.

4. great foot control

   The foot control is sturdy and certainly very good value, also the service. but I think a small "how to" leaflet or diagram would be extremely helpful

5. Easy to install

   This is a really solid foot. It was easy to install the cable as it only has two wires. Saved me a serious amount of money paying for a repair or finding a foot to fit my ancient 730 record.

6. Solid Foot Pedal

   Not a light, plasticy piece of rubbish nthat will fall apart in a week ... but a solid, quite heavy pedal with a good, positive action and an absolute steal at the price.
